Das sympathische Klangkollektiv aus Glasgow überrascht mit einem großartigen Album.
Um dieses fantastische Pop-Album aufzunehmen (der Begriff Popmusik sollte nach diesem Album neu definiert werden), wagten Belle & Sebastian den weiten Weg über den großen Teich und ließen sich in Los Angeles von Tony Hoffer (u.a. Beck, Turin Brakes, Air, Mercury Rev) produzieren. Der Weg hat sich auf jeden Fall gelohnt. Denn die 13 Songperlen auf „The Life Persuit“ versprühen so viel positive Stimmung und verbreiten vorgezogene sommerliche Gefühle, dass diese sogar die trübe Jahreszeit vergessen lassen. Aber sicherlich bleibt es nicht bei dieser kurzfristigen Stimmung, denn wie es scheint, hat die Band um Songwriter Stuart Murdoch mit diesem Album ein kleines Meisterwerk geschaffen. Das sympathische Klangkollektiv aus Glasgow überzeugt auf ganzer Linie und verwöhnt den Hörer mit überwiegend 60er Jahre angehauchten Popsongs. Ihre Schwermut scheinen sie nach dem Ausstieg von Isobel Campbell (jetzt Solo unterwegs) abgelegt zu haben. Tolle Songs, tolle Platte, tolle Band! Schon jetzt ein heißer Kandidat für das Album des Jahres 2006.
